Clickteam's new release, Fusion, appears to have the features that I would have wanted 1-2 years ago, but it's too late for me, as I am now 'invested' in Stencyl, which I think is a phenomenal game-development tool. mobile, Flash) was either non-existent, very limited or buggy. Creating such a prototype might take literally 20-30 minutes in Stencyl, whereas I estimate 1-2 hours, or even a whole morning to achieve the same in AS3.Ĭlickteam's products have always been very solid, but the last version was getting very dated - no physics, and the output to multiple platforms (e.g. A great example of prototyping is given by Emanuel Feronato in a very recent blog post ( ). The speed that I can put a prototype together is quite incredible. I was just getting into Starling when I discovered Stencyl, and I haven't used anything else since then! I believe that Stencyl improves my development time by a factor of between 5 and 10. I think that FlashDevelop is amazing, especially as it is open-source, and I was very happy with my workflow using it with AS3. I have also used numerous other game-development tools going back as far as 1986 (yes, really)! I have used AS3 with the FlashDevelop IDE extensively to create games, and I have also used Clickteam's Multimedia Fusion 2 (Now called 'Fusion') extensively, so I have experience of both 'hand-coding' and 'drag and drop' coding.
